Delphic acolytes cd cover

Delphic - Acolytes

Trying to shake off New Order and Hacienda comparisons Manchester's Delphic release their eagerly awaited album Acolytes. It is a mixture of indie and dance but a lot more electronic than the likes of Bloc Party and The Sunshine Undeground for example.

Starting off with Clarion Call this track builds up slowly to a climax of heavy broken beats and loud guitars. It then goes in to recent single Doubt. The whole album flows like a mixed DJ set. Doubt was an obvious choice of a single as it has all their elements, guitars, club style beats and euphoric trance riffs. This Momentary, Red Lights, the epic 9 minute Acolytes and potential single Halcyon are all solid dance tracks backed up with guitars and drumming that is aimed at the dancefloor whilst keeping the rock element.

Submission, Counterpoint and Ephemera slow the album down with broken beats and chilled out riffs before picking up the pace again for final track Remains.

This album certainly lives up to the hype, it will appeal to people who wants to dance and it is interesting enough to listen to at home.
